I'm off...

In a few minutes I am setting off on a cross country adventure. I will stop in Idaho, North Dakota and Minnesota before my arrival in South Bend, Indiana. I will be spending a month in Indiana. I will be in South Bend attending my first "semester" in the Master in Nonprofit Administration (MNA) program at the University of Notre Dame. Then I am off to New York for a little vacation...and around August 1st I will arrive in Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix I will be working at Maggie's Place and taking classes for my MNA online.

I will miss all my friends and family in Portland...but know that I will return someday. Thank you to everyone who share a meal with me to say goodbye and/or gifted me with something for my journey. I am humbled by your generosity...and truly appreciate the opportunity to say goodbye!

Below is my little car packed full of all my stuff. Thanks mom for the vacuum bags and the "BULLY" (car top carrier), I am not sure how I would have been able to get everything in my car...

I will have limited access to email and probably my phone, but will do my best to respond to emails and calls as soon as possible.

Stay tuned for more pics from the road.

2007 Portland Arthritis Walk

I had the priviledge of joining Arthritis Foudation supporters at the Arthritis Foundation Walk on May 19th, 2007. The walk and celebration were held at Willamette Park on the Willamette River Water Front. It was wonderful to see so many people gathered together in support of those that suffer with arthritis and in effort to raise awareness and funds for a cure. Above is a slideshow of the events of the day (Please be patient it may take a minute or two to load), and below is a panoramic shot of the event. To view and purchase more pictures from the 2007 Portland Arthritis Walk CLICK HERE. All profits made from the sale of prints and products will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation. Please email me or Kim Mellen at the Arthritis Foundation for the event key.

Holy Redeemer School Auction

I had the pleasure of capturing the events of the Holy Redeemer School Auction last night. It was such a fun and heartfelt evening. I was blown away by the hardwork of the Holy Redeemer staff and volunteers...the generousity of the donors...and the community of supporters that genuinely care about the school and each person that walks through its doors. Together the staff, volunteers, donors and supporters came together to raise over $100,000 to educate and support the students of Holy Redeemer School.

Below are a few pictures of the event and the wonderful people who made it so special. Stay tuned for a slideshow of the evening...

Honor Your Mother - Honor All Mothers

Mother's Day is fast approaching and I am sure many of you are looking for a way to honor your mothers. I wanted to share with you a wonderful opportunity to not only honor your mother, but to honor all mothers.

Maggie's Place is a community of homes offering hospitality for expectant women who are alone or on the streets. Much more than a shelter Maggie's Place is a community...a family...of mothers, babies, staff, volunteers and donors. Expectant women can join the Maggie's Place community any time during thier pregnancy and stay up until nine months after they give birth. The physical and emotional needs of the mothers at Maggie's Place are provided for with shelter, food, clothing and a supportive community. As well, mothers are supported in thier short and long term goals through connections to appropriate agencies, resources and programs. Maggie's Place supports the mothers as they give birth to thier child...and to their dreams

Maggie's Place has a very special place in my heart. I spent two years as a staff member at Maggie's Place living in community with mothers, babies and other staff members. During those two years my life was forever changed and I developed friendships that will last a life time. In early August I will return to serve as a staff member again...giving birth to my dreams.

PDX Volleyball Club Portraits

It was my pleasure to celebrate a wonderful season with the players, coaches and family members from the PDX Volleyball Club. It was also an honor to be able to catch in photographs the beauty, energy, excitement of the players and coaches. I am currently preparing the photos for printing but I wanted to share a couple of them.

After posing for formal portraits the players on each team wanted me to "take a silly picture, " so I obliged. Here are a couple of the results of the silly poses by the green and purple team.

To view or purchase any of the other pictures please visit www.pictage.com/296762. Please use the event key given to you at the PDX celebration. Please email me with any questions.

Good luck at regionals everyone!!!
